Dwelling On Christ’s Lovingkindness

We have thought, O God, on Your lovingkindness, In the midst of Your temple.

Psalm 48:9

All of eternity will be scarcely enough to dwell upon all the glorious attributes of Christ. In that we have opportunity to do so now, we have a foretaste of glory divine. Our text for today declares, ‘We have thought, O God, on your Lovingkindness.’ To show lovingkindness is to in line oneself towards another in tender affection. It at involves a great deal more than that, but at a bare minimum it is that. So we see Christ in His dealing with children, and by logical extension, with us. How delightful it is for a child to dwell upon the lovingkindness of a true father. The simplest and most sublime thought in song to this day, is ‘Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so.’ It was in His Lovingkindness that He sought me when I was in that ‘fearful pit and in the miry clay.’ I could in no wise rescue myself, yet He did. He washed off all the filth that clung to me, and anointed my head with oil.’ He clothed me with the white robes of His righteousness. He has placed food before me and fed me with His Own nail-scarred Hand. He has placed a crown upon my head, and whispered, ‘I Love you,’ in my ear. He has drawn me close to Himself while He tended to the affairs of running the Universe and let me sit quietly and observe His Handiwork. Where He goes, He takes me with Him, and where He dwells, I shall dwell forever. What a blessed occupation, to dwell upon the Lovingkindness of the Living, Loving Christ.

Gracious Savior,
Occupy our minds today
with more of You.
