I Shall Praise Him

I Shall Praise Him

Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; for I shall yet praise Him, the help of my countenance and my God.

Psalm 43:5

Christ gives us a glorious future.  This is not the best of all worlds. Because sin entered the world, and death came because of sin, we live and move in a hugely imperfect world. We are imperfect and dwell in the midst of people who are the same as we are. At times, we are downcast and with good reason. What is the solution? Christ is the solution now and for the future. The psalmist understood this. He asked himself the question, ‘Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me?’ The solution for him was, ‘Hope in God.’ That is where we encounter Christ. He is the Person Who causes us to have hope in God. He has done all that is necessary to give us hope. The hope Christ gives is what ‘will preserve us unto His heavenly kingdom.’ We have a bright future in which we shall praise Him, ‘the help of my countenance and my God.’ He has brightened our aspect. He has brought joy where there was sadness. He has exchanged His light for our darkness.  He is our reason to hope. We praise Him now and shall yet praise Him.

Our Glorious, Living Christ,
we rejoice that You have brought us to praise You.
We praise You that eternity shall give us
greater opportunities to give You glory.
