Perpetual Communion
Perpetual Communion
They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads. There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever.
Revelation 22:4
As we continue our brief meditation on the passage before us, we find our text today declaring, ‘They shall see His Face, and His Name shall be on their foreheads.’ One of the great prospects of the eternal state is that of unbroken communion with Christ. At the minute, we must confess our communion with Him is often sporadic. We have sweet moments, and perhaps prolonged periods of communion with Our Beloved; however, there are many things that interfere. We find the things of earth distracting. Work, family obligations, and all manner of mundane affairs pull us away from that unbroken fellowship that we desire. To exacerbate that, we find that our natural inclination to coldness of heart, to sin, and to preoccupation with earthly things, causes our communion with Christ to be uneven. Our text describes a glorious prospect. What a delight; to see Christ Face to face; to hear the heavenly sound of the Gracious words that proceed out of His mouth; to behold His Glorious Countenance, and to bask in the light of His Aura. This is enough to make one Heaven, two Heavens. Beyond that, He has, as it were, stamped His Own Name upon our foreheads. He identifies us as His Own, and Owns us as such. Here is a prospect to take us through today. We shall enjoy perpetual communion with Christ. Today can be a foretaste of glory divine. We may see Him now by faith, and look forward to then, when the faith becomes sight.
Our Living, Loving Christ,
We bless You for every moment of fellowship now.
We look forward to the day when that fellowship will be unbroken, for all eternity.
