Lord Of Lords

Lord Of Lords

And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written:  KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

Revelation 19:16

The Book of Revelation is, according to the first verse, ‘The Revelation of Jesus Christ.’  Christ appears in scene after scene throughout the book.  One of His most dramatic appearances occurs in the 19th chapter when He returns to earth from heaven with an array of saints at His back.  Our text describes His appearance by saying, ‘And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written:  KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.’  We see here the presentation of Christ as Lord.  He Who appeared as the meek and gentle Savior, now appears as the Conquering Lord.  If we are to embrace Christ as Savior, then the fact that He is also Lord should be for us a matter of fact.  If we believe the testimony of the ancients, such as David and Isaiah; the testimony of the Apostles of the New Testament, and the witness of John, the concluding author of the Canon, then there is no controversy.  This is the perpetual message of believers in every age.  We are only continuing in our own day to declare this ancient message.  We do not need to contemporize what is a timeless truth.  For all the world to realize the ultimate truth of it is really just a matter of time.  Christ is and shall appear as KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

Our Glorious Conquering King,
we look forward to the day when You shall appear
in all Your glory,
We praise You that in that day,
every eye shall see You
and acknowledge that You are LORD OF LORDS.
