God’s Eternal Day

There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever.

Revelation 22:5

One of the characteristics of our eternal state with Christ is that we will enjoy His Eternal Day. Our text for today declares, ‘There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever’. Of necessity, while we are here in a sin-cursed world, we must endure the night-seasons. How many nights have been long and wretched? We have endured the howling of satanic oppression, and the torments of fearful thoughts. We have found ourselves wide awake and anxious when we were the only ones in the household to be in such a state. How much worse are all our doubts and fears through those night seasons? When we behold the Face of Christ, all of those terrors shall become a dim and distant memory. We shall have stepped forth into God’s Eternal Day. All the shadows and their attendant terrors shall be gone forever. ‘There shall be no night there.’ Does this not make us long, with everything that is within our soul, for that day? Christ has been the Light to us in our darkness. How much greater shall His Light be to us when sin, sorrow, sighing and grief have all fled away under the gleam of His Glorious Light. ‘So shall we ever be with the Lord.’ You may be enduring some darkness today, Child of Grace. You may be feeling as if your night shall never end. Our text for today is for you. ‘There shall be no night there.’ Christ is waiting for you in His Eternal Day. He who purchased your redemption with His Own Blood, will give you light, and that for all eternity.

Our Glorious Savior,
We long to bask in Your Eternal Light.
Hasten the Day, when ‘the faith shall be sight.’
‘Even so, come, Lord Jesus.’
