The Seat of Honor
The Seat of Honor
(Christ) Who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.
Hebrews 1:3
Christ deserves the Seat of Honor. Our text today declares that after, ‘He had by Himself purged our sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on High.’ So it should be. The Father is ‘the Majesty’ and He affords the Seat of Honor, on the Right Hand, to Christ the Son. This position, which Christ occupies, recognizes the Perfection of His Life. He could not occupy that seat without having satisfied the Law of God in precept. It also recognizes the Perfection of His Death. By His death He has satisfied the Law of God in penalty. ‘He has, made His soul an offering for sin.’ Christ’s position at the Right Hand also demonstrates the propriety of His Exaltation. He has every right and reason to be exalted. He is the Worthy Lamb. Having said that, Christ’s position also places Him where He is able, by the objective plea of His Blood, to ‘ever live to make intercession’ for us. We have Our Great High Priest, Who, by His Presence, guarantees our acceptance with God, and who answers our prayer. What an overwhelming encouragement. Christ the Head, is now in Heavenly Places, seated at the ‘Right Hand of the Majesty on High.’ How can I, poor worm of a creature, fail of the Grace of God, if I have such a One, interceding in the Seat of Honor. Again today, I look to Christ. He is all my Hope. He has never, is not, and shall never fail. He is Worthy; He is Worthy, for all time, and for all eternity. ‘Worthy is the Lamb.’
Our Lord and Savior, You are Worthy.
You were perfect in life and perfect in death.
You are the perfect Sacrifice and Advocate for Your Own.
You are the Worthy Lamb.
