The Blessedness of Trust

The Blessedness of Trust

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!

Psalm 34:8

We all desire to be in a ‘good place.’ We want things to be well, to be well ourselves, and for those around us to be well. David was rejoicing in the fact that God had delivered him from the hands of Abimelech. He was in a much better place than he could have been. He exclaims, ‘blessed in the man who trusts in Him.’ David’s blessedness is our blessedness. It is a blessedness that transcends the circumstances in which we often find ourselves. Our blessedness transcends our circumstances, because our Christ transcends our circumstances. Whether, in human estimation, our situation is good or bad; we are high or low; great or small; Christ is greater than all these things. Therefore, ‘blessed is the man that trusts in Him.’ I am blessed from the ancient days, for therein was the electing purpose of God. I was ‘chosen in Christ, before the foundation of the world.’ I am blessed in this life because He has drawn me unto Himself. He has granted me regeneration; repentance unto life; and faith to believe. I am blessed in all circumstances and conditions because ‘this God is our God, forever and ever; He will be our Guide, even unto death.’ I shall continue to be blessed because, ‘we shall reign with Him.’ There is no end to the ‘blessedness’ which is ours, who ‘trust in Him.’ Consider with me today, Child of God, the Christ who has caused us to be so blessed. We who are in Christ have an abundance of blessedness.

Our Gracious and Loving God,
All our hope is in You. In You do we trust.
Upon You do we wait all the day.
Enable us by Your Holy Spirit, to ever trust You more,
and find in Christ our all and all.
