In The Place Where He Has Sent Us
In The Place Where He Has Sent Us
And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away.
Matthew 14:22
God fulfills His Providential Plan for all of His People. In the text before us, we find Christ giving His disciples explicit instructions to get into a boat. The larger context is that He has just fed the 5,000. On the heals of this notable miracle. He sends the disciples out onto the Sea of Galilee, knowing that they would encounter a horrific storm. Herein lies a worthwhile meditation for us today. The disciples were where they were by Divine Appointment. So, it is also with us. ‘The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord….’. We are where we are, as followers of Christ, by His Divine Appointment. He knows where He wants us to be, and for what purpose He wants us to be there. This is important for us to realize, especially when we encounter the storms of life. Child of Grace, have you been following Christ? Have you ‘heard the gracious words that proceed out of His Mouth?’ Have you seen Him do miraculous things? Have you eaten, and were filled, with the loaves and fish which He has multiplied? Realize, Child, that you are now in the place where Christ has sent you. You have not arrived here by accident. All these circumstances lie within the overarching plan which God has for you. That is a great comfort when situations arise which you could never have anticipated. Wherever you are today, Saint of God, realize that God is still in control, and that ‘He shall perform the thing that is appointed for you.’
Our Most Holy and Wise God, we praise You,
that You have a divinely appointed place for us to be,
at every stage of life.
We praise You that today,
You will take us to that place and go with us every step of the way.
