The Knowledge and Wisdom of God

The Knowledge and Wisdom of God

The Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens. By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.

Proverbs 3:19, 20

God manifests His knowledge and wisdom all around us. As the Holy Spirit opens our eyes, we see evidence on every hand that there is no end to His knowledge and no limitation of His understanding. All these grand attributes find their fullest expression in the Person of Christ. If we would see the knowledge of God, we will behold it most clearly in the Face of Jesus Christ. If we would see the wisdom of God, we will see the manifestation of it in the Word of Christ. This brings us, again and again, to contemplate the Altogether Lovely One  ‘in Whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.’ For this reason, we can never have too much of Christ. Can we drink too often of a clear mountain stream? Can we partake too much of the Bread of Life? Can we rest too often upon the Almighty Breast of Our Beloved? No, such a thing cannot be. Our cry is ever, ‘Nearer my God, to Thee; nearer to Thee.’ When we think of all the things we do not know, and all the ways in which we lack wisdom; then look to Christ, knowing that He possesses this knowledge and wisdom in infinite supply; we cannot but feel our souls drawn out inexorably after Him. So let us today, with full confidence in His good will toward us, draw near to Him, sit at His Feet; and hear ‘the gracious words that proceed out of His Mouth.’

Our most Holy and Wise God, we rejoice in You,
in all Your knowledge and wisdom.
We praise You that we are able to see these
Holy Attributes in the Face of Jesus Christ.
