‘His Ears Are Open’

‘His Ears Are Open’

‘His Ears Are Open’

The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry.

Psalm 34:15

As we continue our consideration of the blessings and benefits of adoption, let us dwell for a few moments upon the second half of our text from yesterday. Here we find that not only, ‘the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous,’ but also, ‘His ears are open to their cry.’  To return to our analogy from yesterday. The young mother, of whom we spoke, who is ever watchful over that toddler whom she loves so much, has ears which are particularly attuned to the voice of that child.  There may be twenty-five children splashing about in the water at the edge of the lake, but she will hear hers above them all.  Let there be one cry of distress in the middle of the night, two rooms away from where she is sleeping, and she will hear it.  In an instant she will be out of bed and down the hall to the bedside of the weeping one.  So, it is with God; but even more so, because He, ‘slumbers not, nor sleeps.’  He loves us for Jesus’ sake.  He regards us as His very Own.  He hears our sounds of distress, and ‘His ears are open to our cries.’  Because we are in Christ, from Whom no one in heaven, earth or hell can sever us, God hears us in the darkest of night, and from the ends of the earth.  Your God hears you, and ‘His ears are open to your cries.’

Our Prayer-hearing and Prayer-answering God,
we praise You, that You love to hear the voice of Your children,
when we cry unto You.
Hear us today, and every day, for Jesus’ Sake.
