Home Is Where…Christ Is
Home Is Where…Christ Is
“Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.”
John 17:24
We often hear the phrase, ‘Home is where the heart is.’ For us, who are the sons and daughters of God by adoption, home is where Christ is. On the night before Christ went to the cross to purchase our redemption with His Own Blood, He assured His disciples, ‘Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.’ As He prays His ‘High Priestly Prayer.’ He picks up that theme of His people being with Him where He is. ‘Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.’ There are many things which remind us that, ‘this world is not my home, I’m just a passin’ through,’ as the old song says. For us, who are saved, by Free and Sovereign Grace, and have been adopted into the Family of God, our home is where Christ is. Daily we draw nearer to the day when, by one means or another, ‘the faith shall be sight.’ It is Christ’s desire and intention to bring all of His people into His Presence for all eternity. This is for us heaven. Heaven is not so much about gates of pearl and streets of gold, as it is about being with Christ. Heaven would be hell if Christ was not there. Christ would have us where He is. To that end He came, lived, died, arose, intercedes, and is coming again. To this end He prayed, and He always succeeds in the place of prayer. We shall be with Christ and that forever.
Our most Holy, Wise and Loving Father,
we magnify Your Grace and rejoice that
You have made for us a home and that Christ has secured it.
We look forward to the day, when we shall sit down with Christ in Your Presence
in our Heavenly Home and shall go no more out.
