‘All Things New’
‘All Things New’
Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”
Revelation 21:5
As we continue our meditations upon the eternal state, we ought to spend some time contemplating the environment in which God places His redeemed people. Our text for today is a quotation of Christ Himself. He declares, ‘Behold, I make all things new.’ If we cast an eye back to the beginning verse of Chapter 21, we find that this entails ‘a new Heaven and a new earth.’ It involves, as well, a ‘New Jerusalem’ wherein Christ’s people dwell, full of ‘the glory of God.’ It is, in fact a city that never sleeps. This place of perfection has ‘a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal.’ ‘God Himself will be with them and be their God.’ All these descriptions, plus the many more which we have not included, all point us to a perfect environment for a people whom Christ has perfected. Most of all, as we said a few days ago, Christ Himself will be there to preside over all that occurs. Here is a universe set right. Here, all things are done, ‘decently and in order.’ Here is the paradise which God has ordained for His Blood-Bought people. Here is the heavenly house of the redeemed. We do not deserve it, but we have it before us. We cannot fathom it, but we can enjoy it. We are what we are by the Grace of God, and in that place, in God’s Eternal Day, we shall be where we shall be by that same Grace of God. Let us today, dwell upon that place, and upon the Christ Who brings us there.
Our most Gracious and Wonder-Working God,
we rejoice in every display of Your Power.
We praise You, that You have created an utterly perfect environment,
for Your utterly perfected people,
whom You have transformed by the Power of Your Sanctifying Spirit.
