‘And Follow Me’

Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.”

Luke 9:23

What is the summary of true Christianity but ‘following Christ?’ When the disciples met Christ, after they heard the testimony of John the Baptist, they began to follow Him. For the next few years, wherever He went, they went. If He was cold, they were cold. If He was hungry, they were hungry. If others rejected Him, they felt the rejection. If others accepted Him, they enjoyed the reception. Whatever was Christ’s lot, was their lot as well. It is the same for us who follow Him today. Where Christ is welcome, we are welcome. When the world casts Him out, we go with Him. When His Body suffers, we feel the pain. We follow Christ wherever He is going. So it has been throughout all the history of the people of God, and so it shall be until ‘the day when the faith shall be sight, the clouds be rolled back, as a scroll. The trump shall resound and the Lord shall descend….’ Until He calls us home, or comes again in all His Glory, we will follow the blood-stained path where His Blessed Feet have gone before us. It was the way of all the Blood-bought people of God who followed Him all through their lives and to the hour of their death. It is our way. It is the way of Christ Jesus Our Lord.  We have heard His Words and we follow Him.  Come along with us and we will follow Him together.

Our Kind and Loving Savior,
we rejoice in the blessed privilege that we have to follow You.
We praise You, that You will lead us evermore,
until the faith is sight and we have followed You Home.
