Strength Renewed
Strength Renewed
But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31
There are many activities of life which will deplete our strength. We labor, and are tired at the end of the day. We seek to aid others and the bearing of their burdens, along with our own, brings overwhelming tiredness. Perhaps nothing else wears upon our strength quite as much as waiting. In the larger plan of God, He has ordained that we must wait. The ancients waited for many things, but their overarching hope was in the coming of Messiah. For Him they waited, and grew weary in the wait. To those who wait for Him, God holds out this promise which forms our text for today. ‘But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength.’ When God ‘arrives’ or intervenes it renews our strength. Christ is the breath of fresh air which fills our stagnant lungs. By His Presence, Christ imparts to us that which invigorates us. His Hands lift us up from where we have halted through our sheer exhaustion. The confidence that satisfaction is coming enables us to be more patient while we wait. Perhaps you are today weary and waiting. Christ will not fail you. He is always as Good as His Word. As all of the saints of the past have done, so do today. Look to Christ. He will not disappoint.
Our Strong, Wise and Holy God,
We rejoice that it is never a waste of time to wait for You.
We praise You that in Your Divinely appointed time,
Christ will appear and strengthen us with His Free Spirit.
