‘Glory…Before the World Began’

‘Glory…Before the World Began’
And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine ownself with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.
John 17:5
As Christ continues to pray His High Priestly Prayer, He pleads the words of our text today. He says, ‘And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine ownself with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.’ What were the characteristics of the glory which He and His Father had ‘before the world began?’ This would have been an unparalleled glory It would have been an unprecedented glory. It would have been a glory uninterrupted by any distraction or disturbance. It would have been a perfect glory, shared by perfect Entities in a perfect environment. Into the midst of that glory there would not have entered anything that defiles. It would have been a glory of light into which no darkness could enter and which nothing could diminish. This is a glory that defies description and exists more fully than words can express. Christ appeals to His Father to bring them together into that glory again. The difference would be that the redeemed will be there to behold the glory which no human eye had ever yet seen. This is the future of the saints of God. Those of us who least deserve any sight of Christ, will see Him in the scenes of glory which He had with the Father ‘before the world began.’ Amen, Lord God, make it so.
Our Great and Glorious God,
we rejoice that You reveal Yourself unto us.
We praise You that from age to age,
You manifest Your glory in grander and wider scenes,
which lead us to Christ.
