‘Glorified In Them’

‘Glorified In Them’

’Glorified In Them’

And all mine are thine, and thine are mine, and I am glorified in them.

John 17:10

The High Priestly prayer articulates the relationship between Christ and His Father, Christ and His people, and God and His people.  It articulates other relationships as well, such as, the relationship between God and those of the world, Christ and those of the world and the people of God versus those of the world.  Over the next little while we will come to discuss all these relationships as we are able.  For today, let us dwell upon this one statement of Christ regarding His people, ‘I am glorified in them.’  How is Christ glorified in us?  The work of Christ is redemptive.  Because it is, everything that occurs in our lives which points to Him and His redemptive work glorifies Him.  The way in which He draws us unto Himself glorifies Him.  Our embracing of Him, as the Gospel freely offers Him to us, glorifies Him.  The transformation which He effects in our life, glorifies Him.  Our adoption into the family of God, glorifies Him.  As the Holy Spirit sanctifies us, renews us in the whole person after the Image of God, enables us to die more and more to sin and to live unto righteousness, it glorifies Christ.  Ultimately our glorification will glorify Christ for all eternity.  As we slog our way through a hostile and wearisome world, let us look to Christ with the understanding that we do glorify Him and shall continue evermore to glorify Him.

Our Holy and Wise God,
we rejoice that You make use of us to glorify Yourself.
We praise You that by Your Work in us,
and through us, You will continue to glorify Yourself,
in the lifting up of Christ.
