Declaring All His Works
Declaring All His Works
But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord God, that I may declare all thy works.
Psalm 73:28
God is very capable of displaying His works. ‘The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handiwork. Day unto day utterest speech, and night unto night showeth knowledge.’ Beyond the creation, God has chronicled His works in the sacred history of the Scriptures. There He reveals Himself, His Character, and records His ways of dealing in the course of human history. Because of the limitations of human understanding, we often miss, or fail to recognize what God is doing. As we have previously considered, Asaph had struggled greatly with God’s dispensations of providence. After he began to understand more fully, he confessed his murmuring spirit and demonstrated spiritual maturity. As he finishes the psalm, he declares that he knows what is good for him. It has been good for him to draw near to God. It has been good for him to put his trust in the Lord. Now it is good for him to declare all God’s works. It is even so for us. We have tasted and seen that the Lord is good. By the work of the Holy Spirit, we have drawn near to God. We have put our trust in Christ. He has revealed to us, and daily reveals to us, His works. We have the grand privilege of declaring all His works. In a world that is trying desperately to ignore God, we are the declarers of His Goodness, His Justice, His Mercy, and His Truth. We hold up before the eyes of all, the Person and work of Christ. ‘To God be the glory; great things He has done.’
Our Wonder-Working God,
we rejoice that You do all things well.
We praise You that You have granted unto us
the high and holy privilege of declaring all Your Works.
