Not Forsaken Or Abandoned

Not Forsaken Or Abandoned

For the Lord will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.

Psalm 94:14

God is loyal.  He is loyal to His people as a father and mother are to their children.  He is loyal as a good king is to his faithful subjects.  He is loyal as a true friend is to a friend.  These are all earthly illustrations of loyalty which Christ demonstrates to the superlative degree.  Within the context of the passage wherein our text lies we find that the psalmist is struggling with the prosperity of the wicked.  Ultimately he arrives at peace with his knowledge of the faithfulness of God.  In our text for today he articulates that the character of God is such that He, ‘will not cast off His people, nor will He forsake His inheritance.’  What does this mean in terms of how God will deal with those who oppress His people? Revelation gives us graphic illustrations of Christ’s return to render judgment and justice against all who are His Own enemies, and the enemies of His people.  His Presence is so terrifying to the wicked that they plead for the mountains and rocks to, ‘Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb.’  Christ does not forsake or abandon His people and does not fail to repay their persecutors.  Thus, we rest our cause in His faithful, loyal and Almighty Hands.  Jesus never fails.

Our Holy and Righteous God,
we rejoice in Your faithfulness to Your people.
We praise You that You will demonstrate Your loyalty to us
and do all that is good and right.
