All Your Need

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. 

Philippians 4:19 

What is ‘all your need?’ If we consider all life entails, our need is great and has many elements to it. We have the need to live and breathe. That is a requirement for mere existence. We have need of food, clothing and shelter. We have need of education, be it formal or experiential. We need social contact, a few people who are our people. We need spiritual engagement with God and His truth. These are examples from every area of life. They touch upon the physical, mental, spiritual, and social. Taken together they represent a large need. It is important for us to associate the supply of all that need with someone other than ourselves and our own resources. According to Paul, it is God Who will supply all our need by Christ Jesus. This means that He is acutely aware of the need, has the resources to meet the need, the desire to meet it, and the means to meet it. Thus we may look to Him to supply it all. While on the one hand this does not remove whatever He may put in our hands to do, it mitigates the anxiety and fear we might otherwise have about the meeting of our need. He is good and generous.  

Our Good and Generous God, 
we rejoice that You know all our need. 
We praise You that You are willing to meet that need, 
by Christ Jesus.
