A Fruitful Work

Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in His hand.
Isaiah 53:10
Christ’s work was a fruitful work. Isaiah prophesied, ‘He shall see His seed.’ Christ foreshadowed this fruitfulness when He remarked, ‘Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.’ The death of Christ was Him, as the kernel of wheat, falling into the ground and dying. It was the death of Christ that brought about the multiplication of the seeds who are believers in Him. Christ said, ‘I will build my church.’ The church of Jesus Christ is not an organization or institution, rather it is all of the redeemed of all ages. It is the people of God. All of the people who are Christ’s shall be saved. Christ Himself has said, ‘All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.’ It is for this reason Isaiah could say with such certainty, ‘He shall see His seed.’ Christ will be completely successful in the completion of His redemption. All those who are His will embrace Him in due course of time. This gives us great encouragement in proclaiming the Gospel. The Holy Spirit will apply it, souls will be saved, and Christ will draw His redeemed unto Him. Our message is ‘Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved.’
Our Gracious God and our Savior,
we rejoice at the wonderful effect of Your work.
We praise You that You continue to gather Your people unto You,
by the power of Your Holy Spirit.
