Victory Through Christ

O Death, where is your sting? 
O Hades, where is your victory? 
The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 

I Corinthians 15:55-57 

God has given us life. Christ came in order that we might have life more abundantly. Death is the enemy of life. Sin is the means by which death came into the world. In order for us to have the abundant life Christ intends for us to have, Christ must address both sin and death. In order to do that He must address the demands of the law by which we understand what sin is. Christ has successfully addressed all these. He lived perfectly to satisfy the demands of the law in precept. He died sacrificially to satisfy the demands  of the law in penalty. He rose from the dead and overcame death. Because we are His Body, we have an indissoluble union with Him, our Living Head. Because He lives we shall live also. That is abundant, eternal life. Therefore Christ’s victory is our victory. His success is our success. His life is our life and it is never-ending. We live in Christ and are therefore victorious over sin and death. Christ has done all the work, made all the sacrifices, and gained all the victory. He deserves all the glory. Therefore we make much of Him. 

Our Victorious, Living Christ, 
we rejoice in Your Person and in Your Work. 
We praise You that You are victorious over death, 
and give us the victory.
