The Effect Of Light

But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light.
Ephesians 5:13
Darkness is the absence of light. When light shines, darkness flees. It has no power to do otherwise. Light does not have to alter itself to dispel darkness. It does so simply by being what it is. Light also exposes anything that is in the darkness. When the darkness leaves, whatever it hid becomes clear. This is true in the physical world and in the moral, spiritual world as well. When Christ walked about in the earth, He did good. As He manifested His goodness by being good and doing good, He caused spiritual darkness to flee. The result was wonderful for those who received Him and the light He brought them. The result was not positive to those who had been doing evil things in the darkness. This included the religionists as well as others who had everything to gain by the darkness. Christ exposed the evil of their deeds simply by His being, and what flowed out of Him. As the Holy Spirit conforms us to the image of Christ, we are the light of the world. Our walking in the light will inevitably shed light where we go. This will have an effect on the darkness around us. It will also expose the evil done in the darkness. This comes by virtue of who we are as we walk as Christ walked.
Our Gracious Master and our God,
we rejoice at Your example.
We praise You that You teach us
to walk in the light, as You are in the light.
