Where Is Christ?

But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool.
Hebrews 10:12-13
Where is Christ today? According to our text, He is seated at the right hand of God. What is He doing there? Again, our text relates, He is waiting ‘till His enemies are made His footstool.’ This has been the understanding of the people of God from ancient days. David articulated it clearly when he said, ‘The LORD said to my Lord, Sit at My right hand, till I make Your enemies Your footstool.’ Paul refers to it in his writing on the resurrection by saying, ‘For He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet.’ John confirms that at the end of the age, Christ will return to defeat His enemies in a devastating manner. We must embrace a whole God, a whole Bible, and a whole Christ. Christ came as the humble, meek, sin-bearing Savior. He endured all the humiliation that was necessary to fulfill the law of God in precept and in penalty. His return will not be like that. It will be a return with power and great glory to defeat His enemies. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. Until that day, He is seated at the right hand of God until His enemies are made His footstool. In due course of time, we hope to consider what else He is doing there. For the moment, we may dwell on these things.
Our Great God and our Savior,
we rejoice that we know where You are today.
We praise You that, in due course of time,
You will defeat all Your enemies.
