Asking In Faith

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind.
James 1:5-6
How much confidence do we have in God? Do we believe He will do what He has promised? We have been discussing wisdom. The specific kind of wisdom in our text is that which we need in order to navigate the circumstances we encounter every day. For this kind of wisdom God expects us to inquire often, perhaps many times in a day. Situations in life come at us in an unremitting stream. Every day presents us with a plethora of circumstances which require us to act or react. The more we realize our need for wisdom, the more often we will ask for it. God wants us to ask with complete confidence in Him that He will be as good as His promise. Christ said to His disciples, ‘If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.’ This promise of His certainly applies to us as well. On the basis of our text it applies to our requests for wisdom. God wants us to have faith in Him. Our body constantly communicates with our head to guide us aright. So we, the Body of Christ, have every reason to have faith in Christ, Our Head to give us the wisdom we require for all we encounter.
Our Wise and Wonderful God,
we rejoice that it is no mistake to trust in You.
We praise You that as we ask in faith,
You will do all that we need.
