No Faith?

And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing? Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, Peace, be still! And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But He said to them, Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?
Mark 4:37-40
Christ wants us to have faith in Him. Christ had successfully resolved the terrifying circumstances which had engulfed the disciples. He had arisen from sleep, said, ‘Peace be still’, and calmed the storm. Afterward, He asked the disciples two questions: ‘Why are you so fearful? and ‘How is it that you have no faith?’ Why are those important questions, not only for the disciples, but for us as well? Two things were true in the situation. First, Christ was with them. Second, Christ was in control. They were there by His direction. They were not alone. They could not control the situation, but they could trust Him. We are much the same. We follow Christ where He leads us. We go where He sends us. He has promised to never leave us or forsake us. He is in control, not just of winds and waves, but of all things. Therefore, we have no reason to fear and every cause to have faith in Him. He is in control of all we are not. He has never failed His people. Even though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death, we fear no evil because Christ is with us. We can trust and not be afraid.
Our Gracious Lord and Master,
we praise You that you are utterly worthy of our trust.
We pray that everyday
You will increase our faith.
