Saved By His Life

Saved By His Life

For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.  And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.

Romans 5:10-11

The post-resurrection life of Christ brings with it certain guarantees. His resurrection is the evidence that His life was the fulfillment of the law in precept and that His death was the fulfillment of the law in penalty. God raised Him from the dead, thus proving that His work of satisfaction was complete and that God accepted all of it. These things occurred while we were still the enemies of God. Now that we are at peace with God, reconciled to Him, as our text puts it, His life brings with it the guarantees to which we referred earlier. We have been adopted into the family of God. We are heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ. Christ, Our High Priest, is making perpetual intercession for us by His presentation of the objective plea of His blood. He is also preparing dwelling places for us and has promised to return to receive us unto Himself. In due course of time, we shall be where He is. Thus, not only the death of Christ matters, but also the post-resurrection life of Christ matters. We serve a living Savior Who saves us to the uttermost. We have every reason to make much of His sacrifice, and to also make much of His current life with all the guarantees it brings. He has done all things well.

Our Gracious Master and our God,
we rejoice in Your death
and in Your resurrection.
We praise You that You ever live for us.
