Go In Peace

Go In Peace

Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any, came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped.

And He said to her, Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.

Luke 8:43-44 & 48

Christ transforms the life of those who have faith in Him. Our text is a play-within-a-play. Christ was on His way to raise Jairus’ daughter from the dead. As He went, a woman who had been hemorrhaging for twelve years sought to be healed by touching the hem of His garment. She had faith that this simple touch would heal her. When she got close enough in the midst of the crowd, who were encompassing Him, she touched the hem and immediately received healing. Christ was aware that power had gone out of Him. He stopped and asked who had touched Him. The woman come forth, with some reluctance, and told her story. The final portion of our text is His parting benediction to her. He shows, once again that faith in Him is not a vain thing. He showed Himself worthy of her faith. He will show Himself worthy of our faith as well. We have various humanly unsolvable issues. They may be physical, mental, spiritual, social, or a combination of them. We have sought to resolve those issues by various means, often to no avail. We are at the end of ourselves. We believe and need help with our unbelief. If we can, in faith, touch the hem of His garment, He will do for us what no one else can do. He is ever good to those who trust in Him.

Our Good and Loving Savior,
we rejoice that You do all things well.
We praise You that it is never a mistake to
have faith in You.
