The Power Of His Resurrection

The Power Of His Resurrection

…that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death...
Philippians 3:10
For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Philippians 1:21

What is the power of Christ’s resurrection? Paul wanted to know Christ, and in order to know Christ, he said he desired to know ‘the power of His resurrection?’ What was that power? At the foundation, it was the power of God. In Acts 2, Peter said that God had raised Christ from the dead. More than that, Christ Himself said, ‘…I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.’ Thus, the power of Christ’s resurrection is the power of God to raise the dead. While we see instances of this physical resurrection in the life of Christ, and in the life of Paul, we see many spiritual instances of it in the lives of them both. The Christlike life is the powerful life. It is not the life of the pursuit of earthly power, but of spiritual power. That is the power that raises the dead both physically and spiritually. Thus Christ could say, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.’ If to us to live is Christ, then we must know Him and the power of His resurrection. This can only come by casting aside all else that does not aid and increase the gaining of that knowledge. The power of Christ’s resurrection is power like no other. He has it and alone can impart it by His Spirit to us.

Our Glorious, Living Christ,
we rejoice in You and in the power of Your resurrection.
We praise You that, by Your Holy Spirit,
we can experience this ourselves.
