Many Believed

As He spoke these words, many believed in Him.

John 8:30

Christ was a convincing character. He spoke with authority. His deeds corroborated His words. He defended the weak, healed the sick, raised the dead and opposed the hypocrites. He fed the multitude, turned water into wine, and spoke like no one else before or since. The people who heard Him during His earthly sojourn could not but be affected by Him. Many believed in Him. History reveals that since that day many more have believed in Him. They have so thoroughly believed in Him that they would not deny Him even under threat of death. This is a convincing Person with convincing words and works. Not all have believed. His detractors in His day were so inflamed against Him that they engineered His execution. They denied His resurrection and sought to stifle His emissaries. Their campaign against Him lives on to this very hour. What they could not do was stop Him. Even when they thought they had succeeded, they only fulfilled the larger purpose of God. The more they denied the truth of His resurrection the more clearly it has been established. He came for many, lived, died, arose, ascended, and is returning for them. His redeemed are a great multitude that no man can number.

Our God of Grace and Glory,
we rejoice at the many ways You have proven Yourself.
We praise You that You have brought many to believe in You.
