With No Doubting

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
James 1:5-8
God wants us to have utter confidence in Him. When it comes to the discussion of wisdom, James makes a point of saying that when we ask for wisdom to address a particular situation, we should ask in faith with no doubting. He goes on to illustrate his point by saying, ‘he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind.’ One of the most significant reasons we have for having complete confidence in God to give us wisdom when we ask for it is our vital union with Christ in whom are hidden all the treasure of wisdom and knowledge. Because Christ is our Head and we are His Body, we have an indissoluble union with Him. What He is and has is ours. If the Head has it, the body has it. If the Body needs it, the Head supplies it. Therefore, when He give us a promise like this we have every reason to have fullness of faith that He will do all He has said. A clear sight of Christ with a good understanding of our relationship with Him will go a long way toward bolstering and increasing our faith. God is as good as His Word.
Our Glorious, Living Head,
we rejoice at what You are to us.
We praise You that You give us, as Your body,
everything of which we stand in need.
