He Restores My Soul

He Restores My Soul

He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.

Psalm 23:3

Christ meets our soul needs. The events of life deplete our souls. We experience adversity in many arenas. We may endure adversity that arises from people and their behavior toward us. We may experience health issues that discourage us. We my labor long and hard and be worn and weary. The state of society locally, nationally, and globally may dismay us entirely. Any one of these things may deplete our soul. Beyond that we may endure spiritual battles that cause us to despair of our growth in grace. We want to be more genuinely spiritual than we are. We fail in places that by this time we think we should succeed. We find our souls depleted on various occasions for various reasons. Where shall we go for soul restoration? Christ is the answer. Christ restores the soul of His sheep. He shows us His hands and His feet. He reminds us He has purchased us with His Own blood. He brings us again to behold the grand truths of justification, adoption, sanctification, and glorification. He lifts us up when we are downcast. He communes with us and soothes us when we are wrought up by some soul-depleting circumstance. He restores our soul and replenishes our reserves.

Our Kind and Gracious God,
we rejoice that You know us better than we know ourselves.
We praise You that when our souls are failing,
You restore them.
