No Other Name

No Other Name

Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.

Acts 4:12

Christ is the Continental Divide of humanity. Either He is all He claimed or deserves to be relegated to a place in history alongside other influencers of human thought. When Peter and John went up to the Temple to pray and encountered the man who had been, ‘lame from his mother’s womb,’ they healed him. He became, by his healing, the introduction to Peter’s second sermon, recorded in Acts. This caused many to hear the gospel and also disturbed the rulers of the Temple who had played a large role in the crucifixion of Christ. They arrested Peter and John, and held them until the next day. They convened a council to challenge the preachers.  Christ was at the center of the controversy. Peter boldly answered them. Our text is part of his answer. This is the critical fact which everyone must face. There is not salvation from sin apart from Christ. We cannot approach God except through Christ. This was inherent to the gospel since before Peter articulated it. In the years since Peter uttered his confession, the message has not changed.  Christ is the only Savior and is still saving people. We are witnesses of His free and saving grace.

Our Great God and our Savior,
we rejoice that You have set forth Christ
as our Redeemer.
We praise You that we look to Him for everything.
