Inherit The Kingdom

Then the King will say to those on His right hand, Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.
Matthew 25:34
Is there an eternal kingdom of which Christ is the King? According to Him there is. There would be no purpose for Christ to articulate what He does regarding the Last Judgment if it was all a fiction. So much of what we read of the public ministry of Christ indicates that He discussed the kingdom often. Matthew wrote His gospel to present Christ as the King. For the King, there is a kingdom inhabited by His subjects. Christ made clear statements to Pilate, ‘My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here. Pilate therefore said to Him, Are You a king then? Jesus answered, You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.’ As Christ is speaking of the Last Judgment, He says that those whom He recognizes as His ‘sheep’ will inherit this kingdom. Although the prospect of inheriting the kingdom is not the primary motivating factor for how we live, it is still a factual part of all we have in Christ. Our acceptance with God rests upon Christ’s Person and work. The works He recognizes are simply the demonstration of genuine belief. We believe, and therefore, imitate Him.
Our Gracious Master and our God,
we rejoice that You are King.
We praise You that Your Kingdom
shall never end.
