The First Revelation

The LORD has revealed our righteousness. Come and let us declare in Zion the work of the LORD our God. 

Jeremiah 51:10  

And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel. 

Genesis 3:15 

What was the first revelation in Scripture of Christ Our Righteousness? We find it in Genesis 3. God gave Adam and Eve clear instructions which included the prohibition of eating of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. They listened to Satan, garbed as the serpent, who convinced them to ignore God’s command. When they began to understand the gravity of what they had done they hid from God. He sought them in the garden and began to deal with them regarding their transgression. Having spoken to Adam and Eve initially, God turned to the serpent. In the midst of His calling the serpent to account for his role in the debacle, He speaks the words of our text. This is the first utterance of the revelation of Christ Our Righteousness. When did God speak it? He declared Christ as Our Righteousness as soon as we needed it. God has revealed Christ as Our Righteousness from the first time we had need of Him. He did not wait to show us hope. He wanted humanity to know of Christ from the moment we were doomed without Him. Christ is the answer.  

Our Holy and Wise God, 
we rejoice that You are often early, 
but that You are never late. 
We praise You that You do all things for Your glory, 
in the fullness of time.
