Two Intercessors

Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.
Hebrews 7:25
Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
Romans 8:26
We have two mighty Intercessors with God. They are Christ and the Holy Spirit. Our text, taken from two separate books, refers to these two Intercessors. Christ’s intercession is that of our Great High Priest. By His presence, at the right hand of God the Father, He holds up the great objective plea of His blood. He guarantees our acceptance at the Throne of Grace because He is not only our High Priest, but also the Head of the Body. If God accepts the Head, He must also accept the Body. The intercession of the Holy Spirit is different in that it is emotional and related to our prayers. We do not know what we should pray for as we ought. At best we are a lisping, stammering bundle of self-absorbed needs and wants. We desperately need the intercession of the Holy Spirit. In essence, the Holy Spirit re-frames our prayers on the basis of what is acceptable to God and intercedes with powerful effect on our behalf. As a matter of opinion, this may account for why the answers to prayer we often receive do not look exactly the way we expected them to look. They are answers more in line with what God knows is best for us. With these two interceding powerfully for us, God will hear us.
Our Gracious God and Heavenly Father,
we rejoice that You have done all that is necessary
for us to be heard at the Throne of Grace.
We praise You for our Two powerful Intercessors.
