You Will Show Me

You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Psalm 16:11

How often are you at a loss for what to do? If you are honest, it is pretty often. How do we successfully navigate the unending series of situations which challenge us every day? Our text for today offers to us a blessed assurance. The Psalmist says, ‘You will show me the path of life.’  That is both comforting and encouraging. But, In Christological terms, it comes alive to an even greater degree. How shall we know what to do? Christ will show us the path of life. Am I faced with illness, and in need of making a medical decision? Christ is the Great Physician, He knows what I should do. Do I feel lost and wandering? He is the Shepherd who leaves the ninty-nine and seeks the lost one. Do I feel as if all is out of control? He is the Sovereign King and rules over all the affairs of humanity. There is no question that causes Him to puzzle. There is not a path I may consider which He does not know the outcome and the destination. He is abundantly invested in my welfare. This gives me overwhelming confidence.

Everyday I will find numerous quandaries in my course of life. Christ can and will direct me in them all. David declares, ‘You will show me the path of life.’ What do you face today, Child of God? Is it in your home, your work or your inner life? Look to Christ. See in Him the Holy Oracle. He will show you the path of life, He will not hide it from you. He will give grace and glory.

Where to go and how to glorify You.
