Beholding the Upright
Beholding the Upright
For the Lord is righteous, He loves righteousness; His countenance beholds the upright.
Psalm 11:7
We may feel, at times, as if we are very obscure. For all intents and purposes, as far as worldly circumstances, that may be true. Our text for today reminds us of the fact that not only is the Lord Himself righteous, but that He also loves righteousness and that His countenance beholds the upright. Scripture gives us examples of this on every hand. From Hagar, who declares ‘You are the God Who sees,’ to the Psalmist of Psalm 139, to Paul in all his trials, all give testimony that, ‘His countenance beholds the upright.’ Are you facing a sore trial today, Child of God? Are you fearful of what the day might bring? ‘His countenance beholds the upright.’ You have rested by faith, on Christ, as He is freely offered in the Gospel. He is your Shepherd. He does not lose sight of one of His sheep. If we wander, He still keeps us in view, and labors to bring us back to His side. If we sit in darkness, He sees us still. The darkness and the light are both alike to Him. If we find ourselves ‘in the uttermost part of the earth,’ physically, mentally, socially, or spiritually, He still sees us and ‘His countenance beholds the upright.’ Regardless of what you face today, Saint of God, or where you find yourself, rejoice in the All-Seeing Christ, Whose countenance beholds the upright. He neither forgets, nor ignores you. He has seen you thus far, beholds you today, and will see you all the way to the Heavenly Kingdom.
Our Gracious Master!
We rejoice that You see us in all conditions,
And in every circumstance.
