Our Enduring Christ

But the Lord shall endure forever; He has prepared His throne for judgment.

Psalm 9:7

Ours is a constantly changing world. We live in it with constantly changing lives. Things all around us begin, continue for a time, and then end, in a perpetual cycle. We say, ‘All things come to an end,’ yet long for the Unending God.  In His immanence, Christ, is that Permanent, Enduring One who, as our text today puts it, ‘shall endure forever!’  Endure forever? When every civilization has finally crumbled, every dictator fallen, every mountain slid into the sea, and every tongue ceased, Christ shall yet endure. Yes, yes!  He shall. This Person provides for us real stability in what would otherwise be a very unstable life in the midst of a very unstable world. Christ is the unchanging Hope of all His people. ‘When all around my soul gives way, He then, is all my hope and stay.’ Armed with that we can approach today, with all its seeming uncertainties with greater peace, and calm. I can be a servant today, knowing that Christ will see to it that my service accomplishes it’s purpose, long after I am gone. I can trust Christ to lead my children, long after my voice has ceased. I can know that He will endure to oversee all His purposes accomplished, in time and for eternity. How wonderful it is to know that Christ, shall endure forever. Here is permanence in the midst of change.

Our Gracious Savior,
We rejoice that You are the same yesterday,
today and forever.
We look to You today,
Our Enduring Christ.
