In Your Light We See Light
In Your Light We See Light
For with You is the fountain of life; In Your light we see light.
Psalm 36:9
All we have is given to us by God. Once we recognize that, everything else flows from it. ‘He gives to all, life and breath, and all things.’ It is so with light. God said, ‘Let there be light, and there was light.’ Christ said, ‘I am the Light of the World.’ These two statements, taken together, lead us to the conclusion that all that I may know of light, I must know from God. It is only by seeing His light that I am able to observe and understand light in any lesser context. More specifically, if I would see light in any other context, I must observe it and understand it based upon the light I have observed and understood in Christ. Christ is Himself Light, and His Word is, ‘a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.’ This makes my pursuit of light in every way, tied to Christ and to His Word. By that standard, I may understand that which is ‘light’ versus that which is ‘dark.’ Do I hear preaching? What does it show me of Christ? Do I hear a discourse on philosophy? What does it reflect of Christ? Do I observe trends and strifes? What do they reveal of Christ? Once I have seen His Light, I have a method of discerning the value of every other proposed source of light. As the Holy Spirit enables me to see the Light of Christ in the Word of God, I find myself drawn ever more intensely, to the Light which is there. So, Child of God today, if you would see light in any place, you must look first to Christ and ‘In His Light, you will see light.
Our Great Shining God,
in Christ today,
Show us Your Light.
