Christ, The Sin-Bearer
Christ, The Sin-Bearer
He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, For He shall bear their iniquities.
Isaiah 53:11
Isaiah, writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit arrives at the declaration of the glorious truth of the Substitutionary Sacrifice of Christ. The words upon which we will concentrate today are these: ‘for He shall bear their iniquities.’ At the heart of Redemption lies the fact that Christ took the sin of all of His ransomed upon Himself. All the rest of the Scriptures confirm this. ‘He has made Him to be sin for us, Who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.’ Abraham spoke it as his word of prophecy when he said to his inquiring son, ‘the Lord will provide Himself a Lamb.’ Moses set it forth in type and shadow on the night of the first Passover when Israel sprinkled the blood of the lamb on the lintel and doorposts of their houses. Paul confirmed the validity of that type when he wrote, ‘Chirst our Passover is sacrificed for us.’ Here is the Grand Truth upon which our souls rest: Christ bore our iniquities upon His Own Body on the Cross. Because He did, we who rest by faith in Him, bear them no more. Here is our hope of acceptance before the Throne of the Holy God. What Christ has done was once done, well done, and efficacious for all His ransomed people. Are you resting by faith in Christ, the Sin-Bearer?
Our Dearest, Dying Lamb,
we rejoice that Your Blood shall never lose its power.
We praise You that You have been made to be sin for us,
who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in You.
