A Divine Guarantee

A Divine Guarantee
But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Acts 1:8
We want to take some time to ‘unpack’ this text and examine it in its various parts. Today, let us contemplate the fact that it was Christ Himself Who spoke these words. He says, ‘but you shall receive power.’ Here is the Divine Guarantee of empowerment for the work which God had for them. We find that it is utterly consistent with everyone to whom God has ever given a work to do. God empowered every one of the heroes of the faith whom we so admire. None of them ever accomplished the plan and purposes of God apart from His empowerment. Abraham, Moses, Joshua, Gideon, Elijah, Elisha, and a host of others whom we could name, all did mighty deeds by the Power of God. What we may draw from this for our own edification is this: God, has a Plan and Purpose for each of us as members of the Body of Christ. Each of us has a work to perform for the Glory of God and for the advancement of His Kingdom. Christ guarantees that He will empower us for this work. The more we recognize this, the more we will look to Christ. We accomplish nothing apart from His empowering of us. All efforts, which rely on human ability alone, must inevitably fail. Christ alone can empower us to glorify Him in accomplishing His Holy Work. Today, let us look to Him to fulfill His Divine Guarantee. It is His work. It is for His Glory. He will see it done through us.
Our Great Savior, and our Almighty God,
we praise You for Your Unchanging Word.
We rejoice that what You have promised,
You will infallibly perform, to enable us to do Your Will.
