But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.

Acts 1:8 & Matthew 24:14

Many people are fascinated by the idea that the world will end. There are certain folks who have made the study of ‘end-times prophecy’ a life-long pursuit. Other secular ‘seers,’ like Nostradamus, speak of the end of the age. Christ had some things to say about ‘the end’ as well. For the purpose of our ongoing discussion, which has unfolded over the past few days, regarding the spread of the Gospel in the hands of the disciples, Christ says, ‘And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.’ We can logically connect this text with what Christ said to the disciples on the Mount of Olives. This is where it brings us: the whole earth will have exposure to the gospel before the end of the world comes to pass. What this means is that Christ empowered His disciples, and they became His witnesses from ‘Jerusalem to the end of the earth.’ They passed on the Gospel message to anyone and everyone who would listen. The next generation of believers took up the flag and carried the message forward. Down through the ages, the followers of Christ have witnessed of Him with ardent and burning hearts. We are those people. We wear the mantle of the disciples of Christ from preceding generations. When this message has reached ‘all the world as a witness to all the nations…then the end will come.’ Christ is the message. Now is the hour to declare Him.

Our Wise and Sovereign God,
we praise You that Your purposes will all be accomplished.
We rejoice that the Gospel will go forth and accomplish everything that You intend, over the whole world, before the end comes.
