‘Even To Your Old Age….’

Even to your old age, I am He, And even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; Even I will carry, and will deliver you.

Isaiah 46:4

Time takes its’ toll upon all of us. We may do many things to try to mitigate the effects of it. We may eat healthy, exercise, keep ourselves busy in worthwhile endeavors, and make a concerted effort to combat the effects of aging, yet they will come regardless. As we age, we begin to struggle in areas which used to come more naturally and easily for us. In fact, as the effects of time take their toll upon us, we are much less able to rely upon the natural strengths and abilities upon which we have relied in the past. As we are less able to rely upon those natural strengths and abilities, where will we look for strength? We look to the same place that all of the people of God have always looked. We look to Christ. Christ makes this promise to us regarding how long He will carry, bear, and deliver us; He says, ‘Even to your old age…’ and, ‘even to gray hairs.’ This is one of the greatest comforts and assurances which we can enjoy. The Self-existent, Unchangeable, Creating Christ is utterly Able to uphold us throughout all the days of our life. He has never failed any of His Blood-bought people. He will not fail us. We may rest utterly upon His Almighty Arm. He has made and He will bear. He will carry and will deliver us, all the way through life, and to the doorstep of an endless eternity.

Our Upholding and Sustaining God,
we praise You that Your strength does not fail.
We rejoice that You are utterly faithful to preserve all of us,
Your people, unto our final hour.
