Go And Tell This People
Go And Tell This People
And He said, “Go, and tell this people: ‘Keep on hearing, but do not understand; Keep on seeing, but do not perceive.’
Isaiah 6:9
As we consider how Christ prepared Isaiah to do a work for Him, we arrive at our text for today, which shows us that when Christ prepares a person to do a work for Him, He gives that person something to say. The verses which follow our text are the message which God had for Isaiah to deliver to the kingdom of Judah. It was not a smooth easy message and it was certainly not going to be a popular one. Really, none of that is of any relevance or importance to this discussion. What is relevant and important is that this was Christ’s message which He had reserved for Isaiah to deliver. Having said that, as we read the remainder of Isaiah, we find that besides all the dire predictions and warnings which Isaiah issues to the people, he also proclaims Christ. Students of the Scripture have called Isaiah ‘the Evangelical Prophet.’ We read much of Christ throughout his writings. For example, nowhere else do we find a more heart-wrenching portrait of the Suffering Savior than in the 53rd chapter of Isaiah. When Christ prepares a person to do a work for Him, He gives that person a message, and it will make much of Christ. If God is thus preparing you, He will give you the message that He wants you to proclaim. You will not lack opportunity, nor will you lack subject matter. He has prepared you thus far, He will fill your mouth.
O, Great God of Truth,
We rejoice that You have given unto us,
the clear message of Christ Himself.
We praise You that You have raised us up
and will continue to give unto us all that we need to make Him known.
