‘Here Am I, Send Me’
‘Here Am I, Send Me’
Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”
Isaiah 6:8
We have been considering how Christ prepared Isaiah to do a work for Him. We saw two days ago, that Christ gave Isaiah a clear sight of Himself. Yesterday we considered that Christ changed Isaiah’s life in personal, spiritual ways. Today, we want to consider that before Isaiah could do a work for God, Christ had to give him an open opportunity and a willing heart. Christ sets the open opportunity before Isaiah with the question, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?’ Christ does not ask questions to which He does not already know the answer. By this question, He is setting before Isaiah this open opportunity. Beyond this opportunity, Christ gives to Isaiah a willing heart. As soon as the question issues forth from the Lips of Christ, Isaiah responds, ‘Here am I Lord, send me.’ Christ prepares us to do a work for Him by giving us a willing heart to embark upon the open opportunity which He has set before us. He makes us members of the Royal Order of the Willing Heart. We do not know, as the producers of this little work, how God will use it for His Glory. We do have to ask, however, is it possible that in your reading of these devotionals over the past days that you have discerned the Hand of God dealing with you. Is He showing you Christ? Is He changing your life? Is He setting before you an open opportunity? Is He giving you a willing heart? Is He preparing you, in every way, to do a work for Him?
Our Gracious Master and Our God,
we praise You, that You have great plans for us.
We rejoice, that You fit us to perform all the things that will most glorify You
and prepare us, in every way, to accomplish them.
