Christ is the Answer

All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

Isaiah 53:6

We have arrived at the answer to the problem of our depravity and the sin which flows from it. Yesterday, we considered the fact that God is the Author and Finisher of Salvation. He has the answer for our depravity, and Christ is the answer. Our text for today declares, ‘And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.’ Our depravity is so ingrained, and our sin so pervasive that nothing but the work of God can address it successfully. He has done so in the outpouring of Divine Love that made Christ ‘to be sin for us, Who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.’ God, from before the foundation of the world, chose His people in Christ, and ordained that Christ would live for us to satisfy the demands of the Law of God in precept. Beyond that, He ‘laid on Him the iniquity of us all’ to satisfy the Law of God in penalty. Herein lies the answer to our depravity and the sin which flows from it. Christ is the Answer. He is the Sin-Bearer. He Alone is able to put right all that is wrong with us, and with the world in which we live. Today, we point you again to Christ. See in Christ the Answer to the most pernicious problems that plague you. ‘ Behold the Lamb of God, that takes away the sin of the world.’

Our Glorious Living Christ,
we rejoice that You are the Answer to our deepest needs.
We praise You that by Your Life and Death,
You have accomplished this Grand Redemption which
the Holy Spirit will not fail to apply unto all for whom it is intended.
