‘You Are the Son of God’
‘You Are The Son Of God’
Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth you are the Son of God.
Matthew 14:33
Christ ever intends to show us more of Himself. If we go back to the beginnings of our considerations of this account, we recall that Christ had insisted that the disciples get into the boat, knowing that the storm would terrify them. He had done the miraculous by walking on the water to where they were. He had approved of Peter’s desire to draw near Him, and upheld him through the continuing turbulent circumstances. Christ had rescued Peter when the circumstances overwhelmed him, and instructed him in spiritual things. He had walked arm in arm with Peter back to the ship, ‘Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth you are the Son of God.’ At that point, the disciples apprehended what Christ had all along, intended for them to learn. ‘Truly You are the Son of God.’ Christ puts us in circumstances that may well terrify us. He will utterly approve of our drawing near to Him even though our outward circumstances may not change. He will lift us up and instruct us when the circumstances have gotten to us. He will do all these things that we may have a greater understanding of Who He is, and worship Him. This is part of His Master Plan for us. From where we are today, we may not see how all of the turbulence will end. He, however, sees the end from the beginning. He will do all things well, and lead us to worship and proclaim, ‘Truly You are the Son of God.’
Our Wise and Wonderful Savior,
We praise You that You continually
reveal Yourself unto us.
We rejoice that forever our song will be,
‘Worthy is the Lamb.’
