The Guarantee

In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
Ephesians 1:13-14
The Holy Spirit of promise is Who we have within us now in the anticipation of all that God intends to do with us in eternity. Paul describes Him as ‘the guarantee.’ The Holy Spirit’s presence in our lives is what assures us that God will complete all that He has begun. It is the work of the Holy Spirit to apply unto us the redemption purchased by Christ. His work is to seal us, indwell us, sanctify us, and fill us for service. This is what goes on in our spiritual experience in real time. The Holy Spirit has much to do with us in every way. As we make use of the means of grace, He makes Christ real unto us by taking the things of Christ and showing them to us. He ‘guides us into all truth.’ He fills us to live in a Christlike fashion and to imitate Christ as we go about doing good. ‘The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness (and) self-control.’ All these things which the Holy Spirit does in our lives in real time are only the down payment on what God has in store for us who are ‘in Christ.’ Today, we rejoice in Him, Who is ‘the guarantee of our inheritance.’
Our Kind and Generous God,
we rejoice that You have given unto us Your
Blessed Holy Spirit.
We praise You that He is the guarantee unto us,
that You will fulfill all that You have begun
in Your Glorious work of redemption.
