No More Curse

And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him.

Revelation 22:3

The ‘curse’ and the effects of it began shortly after the sin of our first parents, Adam and Eve.  When addressing their sin, God had pronounced a curse upon the earth, and all people as well as the things within it.  This curse has had a catastrophic effect upon the whole earth and upon all of us who have descended from Adam and Eve by ordinary generation.  It has caused untold heartache and had an unfathomable, horrific effect upon human history.  It has caused the whole creation to groan.  Only Christ in His Person and by His work can reverse the effects of this curse.  As John is describing ‘the great city, the holy Jerusalem’ and ‘the bride, the Lamb’s wife,’ who are the redeemed in the city, he says, ‘and there shall be no more curse.’  Our text goes on to say, ‘but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it.’  This means that in the presence of Christ the effects of sin will be gone forever.  This means no more failure, no more falling short of all that God intends for us to be; no errors of judgment, no disastrous consequences. It means a whole new reality that will never fade away.  What a blessed future awaits, all because of the Person and Work of Christ.

Our Wise and Holy God,
we rejoice that Christ is the answer
for all that is wrong in this world.
We praise You that what He does
extends to us personally and guarantees
our complete transformation.
