My God Shall Supply

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19
How can we be certain that God will supply all our need? Paul writes with great confidence. It is noteworthy he was writing this from a prison cell. We can draw from that that his conception of need was perhaps very different from ours. How then could he say with such assurance, ‘My God shall supply all your need?’ His confidence arose from his knowledge of the character of God and the history of His workings. If God has chosen us in Christ before the foundation of the world; predestined us unto the adoption of children; regenerated us, effectually called us to Christ; given us faith to believe; made us members of the household of God and joint-heirs with Christ, how shall He not also supply all our need? If He has done the greater, we have every reason to believe He will do the lesser. This enables us to take a clearer view of what we really do need. It also enables us to have a heightened awareness of the various ways in which God does supply our need. It also causes us to contemplate how God’s supply for us is related to Christ Jesus because He supplies these things by Him.
Our Good and Gracious God,
we rejoice that You supply all we need.
We praise You that it is through Christ
we receive these things from You.
